The short answer is yes you can! Salting your oil and stone driveway will not cause any damage and can be used regularly to combat ice! Although, you do have to be a bit more careful when using a plow. To avoid picking up stones from your oil and stone driveways while plowing, make sure the plow blade is raised slightly so it does not scrape against the surface. If it does, it can cause unseemly bare spots and allow snow and ice to seep into and erode your oil base. Come spring it is best to fill in any holes or dips and touch up your surface by re-raking it!
